Unfortunately I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. I arrived with my gf at 7 25 for a v day dinner on a 7 30 reservation.
The experience began well, we were seated immediately by personable staff. We were presented a reasonable menu with some good sounding entrees. The wine list was disappointing, containing a single bc red (tinder horn creek but unfortunately their merlot as opposed to their far superior cab franc). What happened to supporting our wine region?
Regardless I ordered the duck and my gf ordered qci halibut. In addition we ordered a house made chorizo for a starter.
We got the starter 30 min later, both presentation and taste was good.
From there we waited for our entrees- and received them at 21 48 hours. That's right 2 hours and 23 minutes after our arrival!
At the hour forty five mark we complained. At the 2 hour mark they explained the meal was comped. At about 2 hours 10 min into our wait we heard dishes smashing and the chief swearing from the kitchen.
A dynasty later when our food arrived presentation was good. My duck was solid, a medium as ordered and well seasoned and tasty.
My girl was not as lucky. Her halibut tasted good but was half sushi, being only about 2/3 cooked. She commented on that and the waitress was going to bring it back but we just didn't have the time at that point, some 2 hours and 40 min in.
We were given comped deserts. I had a chocolate cake dish and my gf had a cheesecake. Both were good.
The waitress was good and with the exception of the halibut the food was quality but the wait was out of this world. The restaurant was only 3/4 capacity so it was not volume. Why didn't we walk out? Isolation and a totally spent evening at that point.
The proprietors present themselves as experienced interprovincial restauranteers but I am not sure I can agree with the time debacle I experienced. They comped the meal without me suggesting it so that was proper but they either need to get a new cook out more cooks if they want to keep in the fine dining market.
